To educate and motivate women to take a personal interest into their ability to protect themselves and the ones they love through courses designed to develop the whole individual: someone with acute awareness, a firm understanding of situational problem-solving and an ability to tap into her intuitive nature to circumvent violence.
NOT YOUR TYPICAL CLASS
This workshop or series of courses is designed specifically with the female in mind. It is both horrendous and tragic that 1 out of 5 women in the United States will be raped or sexually assaulted in their lifetime! Often women take up a martial art or self-defense class and they learn a few techniques. What is unfortunate is that in many of these classes the teachers are not instructing the student in the proper awareness, avoidance and communication skills necessary to avoid becoming a victim in the first place.

This year's curriculum is going to cover four important topics: communication, "blue-printing," physical framing and ground defense. These four topics constitute a major percentage of our self-defense capabilities - the first two in our ability to diffuse and deter a conflict and the last two, developing the skill and know-how to use your body physically.
FREE HAND-OUTS will be available for all participants.
Our actions are dictated by the situation or change in situation. "Situation dictates Response."
Our first (physical) reaction to an attack will be instinctual and often by surprise. We must learn to act & react from this origin and with an understanding that violent and/or potentially violent situations often occur suddenly and by surprise.
Approximately 70% of any confrontation is psychological and thus, we must understand the Cycle of Behavior. CoB is coined by self-defense expert Tony Blauer.
Fear is not a state or emotion, it is a survival signal. Proper self-protection training does not eradicate fear but allows us to harness it and see us safe from the real threat, which is panic and inaction.
ACTION BREAKS SILENCE
RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE, online.rainn.org y rainn.org/es) in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice. [website]
With an initial focus on Africa, South Asia and the UK, we seek to achieve our mission by sustainably engaging communities in the delivery of our Empowerment through Self-Defence Programme for girls and our Hero Empathy Programme for boys. We initiate educational programmes to bring about societal change, and raise general public awareness in the countries where we work. [website]
* 100% of ALL workshop profits go to these two organizations (excluding Stripe/Paypal/Credit Card fees and sales of merchandise)
MICHAEL & JENNIFER
Michael Joyce has been studying the martial arts since high school, but it wasn't till college that he knew that it was something he would continue with as a career. Throughout his studies, he realized (as some never do) that the martial arts and self-defense are different - especially when it comes to women. While in college, there were two high-profile murders on the East Coast that really got his attention; students Lauren Burke and Eve Carson. Quickly afterwards, Michael Joyce put together a curriculum (that later became the Outfoxxed Program) and a book, The Golden Thread: Essential Principles of Self-Defense.
While dating and more-so after they were married in 2011, Michael and Jennifer joined forces and started teaching the Outfoxxed classes and workshops together. The 5 foot (and possibly 1 inch) Jennifer proved to be a shining example of just how effective these movements, techniques and tactics can be against a bigger and physically stronger adversary. Educating and empowering women has been a fun and rewarding endeavor for these two, and if you haven't had the opportunity to attend one of their workshops, we certainly urge you to sign up...
Remember, not only is the money going to a good place, but you're learning something extremely important and investing in yourself.
